Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What can I expect during my first physical therapy visit?

You can expect to spend one hour with your physical therapist during your initial visit.  This time will be spent reviewing your health history and goals for treatment, as well as learning about what brought you to physical therapy and how physical therapy can help.

A physical assessment will be done during this hour, which will involve assessing flexibility and strength of involved muscles, assess your posture and gait, among other things.

It is recommended that you wear comfortable clothing and shoes to your initial evaluation and all follow up visits.

How often will I attend physical therapy?

Treatment plans are individualized based on the initial evaluation findings and compliance with recommended home programs.  In general, you can expect 6-12 follow up visits. Typically, patients are seen 1-2 times per week with each follow up visit lasting 30-45 minutes.

Do I need a physician referral?

Delaware is a direct access state, meaning treatment can be provided for up to 30 days; after that time, a physician must be consulted and a prescription is required.

If you are seeing us using Medicare, Medicare does require a physical prescription at initial evaluation.

Is treatment covered by insurance?

We do accept most major insurances, Medicare, Highmark Health Options, and Amerihealth Caritas. We do call and verify your insurance benefits prior to your initial evaluation.

We can also bill motor vehicle insurance and worker’s compensation insurance if applicable.

Cash-based visits as outlined below:

  • Initial Evaluation: $150
  • Each Follow Up visit: $85
  • Payments can be made via cash, check, or credit card.
